Meta Pixel

Measure Facebook and Instagram ad performance with browser pixel tracking plus server-side conversion events that ad blockers cannot stop.

About this plugin

Meta Pixel connects your Orderain store to Meta so you can see which Facebook and Instagram ads actually bring in sales. One Pixel ID covers both apps, along with Messenger and Audience Network, so there is nothing separate to set up for Instagram. This plugin tracks shoppers two ways at once. The pixel runs in the browser and records page views and product views, while the Conversions API sends add to cart, checkout, and purchase events straight from your server.

The server side matters because ad blockers, iOS privacy settings, and cookie limits stop a large share of browser events from ever reaching Meta. When those events go missing, Meta optimizes toward the wrong audience and your reported sales look lower than they really are. Both methods send a matching event ID for every action, so Meta merges them into one conversion instead of counting it twice. Paste your Pixel ID to start with browser tracking, then add your Access Token to switch server-side tracking on.

Key Features:

  • Tracks page views and product views through the Meta pixel
  • Sends add to cart, checkout, and purchase events from your server
  • Covers Facebook and Instagram ads from one Pixel ID
  • Keeps reporting accurate when shoppers use ad blockers or iOS privacy settings
  • Matches browser and server events so conversions are never double counted
  • Sends hashed email and phone so Meta can match more customers to their accounts
  • Lets you turn each event on or off
  • Works with browser tracking alone if you would rather not use server-side

Installation guide

Step 1: Go to business.facebook.com and sign in. You need a Meta Business account with Admin access to complete this setup.

Step 2: In the left sidebar, open All tools, then click Events Manager.

Step 3: Click Connect data sources, select Web, then click Connect.

Step 4: Enter a name for your pixel and click Create. If you already have a pixel, select it from the data sources list instead.

Step 5: With your pixel selected, copy the Dataset ID shown at the top of the page. This is your Pixel ID, a number around fifteen digits long.

Step 6: In your Orderain Dashboard, go to Shop, then select Plugins from the left sidebar and click on Meta Pixel.

Step 7: Paste your Pixel ID into the Pixel ID field and click Install. Browser tracking is now live.

Step 8: Back in Events Manager, open the same pixel and select the Settings tab.

Step 9: Scroll to the Conversions API section and click Generate access token. Meta sets everything up for you, so there is no app to create and no review to wait for.

Step 10: Copy the token now, as Meta only shows it once. This is a different value from the Pixel ID you copied in Step 5.

Step 11: Return to the Meta Pixel plugin in Orderain, paste the token into the Access Token field, and save. Server-side tracking is now live.

Step 12: Visit your storefront and place a test order.

Step 13: Open Events Manager and check the Overview tab. Your purchase should appear with both Browser and Server listed as sources, counted as one event.
